Andalusian Barbel
The Andalusian Barbel is a ray-finned freshwater fish. The Andalusian Barbel is regularly found in the southern Iberian Peninsula, native to both Portugal and Spain. It inhabits the middle and lower parts of rivers, and will typically utilize any applicable location aside from small cool mountain streams. They spawn at the beginning of summer, between May and June. The males reach sexual maturity at 2-4 years of age and around 3.1 in (8 cm), whereas females reach maturity at 6-7 years and at 4.3-6.3 in (11-16 cm) in length. Despite a fairly small size for a Barbel, it has a long life, living up to 18 years.
