Burbot
The Burbot is the only freshwater cod, and can be found in large rivers and lakes. In 1590s England, it was said that burbot were so common that they were used to feed hogs, however in present day have been utterly eradicated from the area. They have elongated serpent-like bodies and flattened heads, with an average length of 16 in (40 cm), and a weight ranging from 2-17 lb (1-8 kg). Burbot are keen hunters, active primarily during twilight and prey primarily on other fish.
