Sockeye Salmon
The Sockeye Salmon, also called Red Salmon, Blueback Salmon, or simply Sockeye, is a species of salmon found in the Northern Pacific Ocean and associated rivers. This species is primarily red in hue during spawning, growing up to 33 in (84 cm) in length and weighing up to 15 lb (7 kg). Their diet consists primarily of zooplankton. Some populations, referred to as kokanee, do not migrate to the ocean and live their entire lives in fresh water.
